اجرت الناشطة الحقوقية والقيادية في حركة "ايرا" مريم منت الشيخ عدة لقاءات صحفية ضمن جولتها الحالية لألمانيا بهدف الكشف عن الممارسات الاستعبادية في موريتانيا، واطلاع الرأي العام الالماني والاوروبي حولها.

وفي هذا الاطار، تحدثت منت الشيخ في لقائين منفصلين مع صحفتي "لمدزتكين" و "ثيوروتور ارومنين" الرسميتين، عن وضع السجناء الحقوقيين في موريتانيا والطريقة الوحشية التي تقمع بها السلطات الموريتانية تظاهرات المناهضين للعبودية، وعن اوضاع السجون الموريتانية، والتجهيل الممنهج لشريحة لحراطين.

كما تحدثت منت الشيخ عن ما اسمته احتكار اقتصاد الدولة من قبل فيئة قليلة، فيما تعيش الاغلبية فقرا مدقعا وظروف صحية وتعليمية مزرية.
