أشرف الرئيس الموريتاني محمد ولد عبد العزيز صباح اليوم الجمعة 31 مارس 2017، بقصر المؤتمرات بالعاصمة نواكشوط على حفل تسليم "جائزة رئيس الجمهورية للعلوم" للتلاميذ المتفوقين في المسابقة الوطنية اولمبياد ورالي العلوم.
وتدخل الإجازة ضمن المساعي الحكومية لتشجيع المتفوقين في المواد العلمية وتحفيز الإبداع والتميز في صفوف النشء.
وتم استحداث الجائزة بمرسوم من مجلس الوزراء للرفع من مستوى التعليم سبيلا لخلق اطر شابة مؤهلة تستجيب لحاجة سوق العمل وتعيد الاعتبار للقطاع وتعزز إسهاماته في جهود التنمية.
وحضر حفل توزيع الجوائز إلى جانب الرئيس، الوزير الأول يحيى ولد حدمين، ورئيس الجمعية الوطنية، وأعضاء الحكومة، وشخصيات سامية في الدولة والسلك الدبلوماسي المعتمد لدى موريتانيا، وعدد من كبار المسؤولين في وزارة التهذيب الوطني، وكوكبة من طلاب ثانويات الامتياز في ولايات نواكشوط الثلاث والولايات الفائزة في الاولمبياد والرالي.
