أعلن الرئيس الامريكي المنتخب دونلاد ترامب انه قرر تعيين الجنرال المتقاعد جيمس ماتيس في منصب وزير الدفاع في الحكومة المقبلة للولايات المتحدة .

و يعرف عن وزير الدفاع الامريكي الجديد عدائه الكبير لإيران و معارضته للاتفاق النووي معها .

و تقاعد الجنرال ماتيس قبل ثلاث سنوات بعد 40 سنة من الخدمة في قوات المارين الامريكية و خدم في العراق و افغنستان و حلف الشمال الاطلسي .

تعيين وزير الدفاع الجديد المعروف بتصلب مواقفه يحتاج الي اذن خاص من الكونكرس ذلط ان القانون يفرض ان لا يعين اي عسكري في منصب وزير الدفاع الا بعد مرور 7 سنوات علي تقاعده .
