تميزت زيارة رئيس الجمهورية محمد ولد عبد العزيز لولاية أطار بدور بارز لقطاع الدرك الوطني ، حيث تولى عناصره تأمين العديد من محطات الزيارة، بالتنسيق مع الأجهزة الأخرى، وكان عناصر الدرك  هم من يتولون تأمين الطريق الرابط بين أنواكشوط ــ أطار و ذلك بتوفير السيارات المجهزة بالأجهزة  المتطورة و الدرجات النارية بالإضافة إلى سيارات الإسعاف وكذلك ضبط طوابير المستقبلين، وتنظيم الحركة، والإشراف على تأمين طريق الموكب الرئاسي، خاصة في الولاية و المناطق التي سيزور رئيس الجمهورية خلال زيارته الحالية لعاصمة ولاية آدرار.

وتميز تعامل الدرك الوطني  مع المواطنين بمرونة، وانسيابية، وفي الوقت نفسه صرامة، ومهنية عالية، بحيث استطاع القطاع الجمع بين المعاملة المحترمة للمواطنين، وضبط الأمن بشكل دقيق، وحفظ النظام.

 وكان رئيس الجمهورية محمد ولد عبد العزيز قد تخلى مؤخرا عن تكليف الأمن الرئاسي بتأمين الزيارات الداخلية، وأوكل المهمة لأجهزة الأمن الأخرى، وأبرزها الدرك و الحرس الوطنين.
