رفض حرس الرئيس الموريتانى محمد ولد عبد العزيز السماح لحارس السفير الفرنسى بدخول ساحة الاستقلال وأنزلوه من الباص الذى كان يقل السفراء وطالبوه باستغلال سيارة السفارة ومغادرة المنطقة باتجاه موقف السيارات فى مكان آخر.
وكان حارس السفير بحمل سلاحه الخاص.
