قررت الحكومة الموريتانية تخفيض مشاركتها فى قمة المناخ المقرر عقدها بالمملكة المغربية لأسباب سياسية، بفعل التوتر المتصاعد بين الرئيس وملك المغرب محمد السادس منذ فترة.
وقالت مصادر حكومية خاصة لموقع زهرة شنقيط إن الرئيس يتجه لتكليف الوزير الأول يحى ولد حدمين أو وزير البيئة آمادى كمرا بالمشاركة فى قمة "مراكش"، بعدما حسم غياب الرئيس عنها بشكل فعلى.
وتحتضن مراكش المغربية قمة المناخ الحالية فى الفترة مابين 7-18 نوفمبر 2016.
ويرفض ولد عبد العزيز زيارة المغرب منذ توليه الحكم فى موريتانيا 2008 بفعل المواقف العدائية للملك وبعض معاونيه من النظام القائم بموريتانيا، وتحولها إلى قاعدة خلفية لأبرز معارضيه.
كما تنظر الحكومة الموريتانية بقدر كبير من الانزعاج لتصرفات الملك محمد السادس فى السنغال ومالى، واستفزازه المتكرر لنواكشوط بفعل موقفها من القضية الصحراوية، وتعاملها مع البوليساريو كنظام معترف به، واتخاذ بعض التدابير الأمنة لضبط الحدود الشمالية مع المغرب، والتصدى لشبكات التهريب والجريمة المنظمة.
