قال الرئيس السوداني عمر حسن البشير إن موريتانيا أنقذت القمة العربية وحرصت على تنظيمها في وقت وجيز والتحضير لها بشكل يضمن نجاحها، معبرا عن أمله في أن تسهم "قمة الأمل" في اتخاذ قرارات هامة تحسن من وضعية العالم العربي على كافة المستويات.
وكان الرئيس السوداني قد وصل ظهر اليوم الأحد إلى مطار نواكشوط الدولي، (أم التونسي)، للمشاركة في القمة السابعة والعشرين لجامعة الدول العربية التي ستنعقد يوم غد الاثنين بالعاصمة الموريتانية.
واستقبل الرئيس السوداني في المطار الرئيس الموريتاني محمد ولد عبد العزيز والأمين العام لجامعة الدول العربية أحمد أبو الغيط وعدد من أعضاء الحكومة الموريتانية.
وكان الرئيس السوداني أول الرؤساء العرب الذين وصلوا إلى موريتانيا للمشاركة في القمة، حيث كلف رؤساء وأمراء عدة دول من ينوب عنهم في "قمة الأمل العربية" بنواكشوط.
