أحبط الرئيس محمد ولد عبد العزيز مباشرة بعد عودته من مدينة النعمة محاولة انقلابية كان يعد لها من طرف لوبيات مدعومة من النائب القاسم ولد بلالي – المعروف بعشقه الجنوني لمنصب عمدة نواذيبوا – عن طريق استخدام بعض حلفاءه في وزارة الداخلية و مفتشية الدولة خصوصا الوالي السابق للمدينة ولد حرمة وذلك بتضخيم اخطاء ادارية بسيطة و محاولة توريط العمدة حتي يتسني للقاسم الحصول علي المقعد تماما كما حدث عام 1996 حيث قام الاخير بدعم من لوبي الكادحين بوشاية امنية ضد العمدة المنتخب انذاك احمد سالم ولد اميشين و توريطه حتي يتمكن القاسم ولد بلالي من الحصول علي مقعد البلدية قبل ان يقوم ولد الطايع باقصائه من المنصب بعد سنة ونصف حين تكشفت له حقيقة الموامرة و هي اللعنة التي لاتزال تطارده حتي اليوم حيث فشل مرات في الحصول علي المقعد رغم الجهود الخيالية التي يبذلها
