تعاني مدينة النعمة عاصمة ولاية الحوض الشرقي من أزمة عطش خانقة ولدت تذمرا لدى الكثير من ساكنة الولاية.

الأزمة تفاقمت بسبب الضيوف الوافدين للمدينة لاستقبال رئيس الجمهورية السيد محمد ولد عبد العزيز.

حزب الاتحاد من أجل الجمهورية قام بمبادرة لتوفير الماء الصالح للشرب لسكان قبيل زيارة الرئيس خطوة الحزب الحاكم هذه تضاربت حولها التأويلات بين من يعتبرها لفت كريمة لمآزرة السكان والتخفيف من معاناتهم غير أن البعض الآخر اعتبرها دليلا على فشل السلطات المحلية في وضع استراتيجية محلية لتوفير أبسط مقومات الحياة لسكان الولاية اعتمت عليها جميع الأنظمة التي حكمت هذا البلد بما فيها النظام الحالي.
